thankful and touched

ok, time to blow off the dust that has accumulated in the lair for the past 2 weeks. been so busy with foc and school that i simply haven't had the time to or brain power to churn out a new entry. but yes, now it is time!

well, we managed to get our exam thing sorted out, but still, we're gonna need to see a lot more from the admin. they even messed up mandy's withdrawal and omitted mingwei from the roll for the exam. tsk tsk. hopefully this is the worst it can possibly get and things start getting bette from here on in.

foc was really, really great. i'm really glad with the way things turned out in the end after a great deal of uncertainty pre-camp. journeying with the new batch of freshies for 4 days really made me feel that all the hard work was worth it. seeing the enthusiasm and energy they had was invigorating, and reading the warm fuzzies i got from them really touched me. if any of you guys from judith are reading this, thanks a bundle guys. can't wait for more CSA stuff to get under way again. =)

of course, the usual gang does deserve a special mention. you guys gave me an important reminder about trust, and everyone did a great job to make this foc a success. and at the moment, i lack the words to express the gratitude and emotions without repeating myself. i really love the whole lot of ya. =)

so... now that foc's done, what's on the horizon? hmmm.

1) getting my keroro fix: keroro gunsou rocks. it's anime at it's madcap best. there's nothing funnier than watching alien frogs trying to take over the world while becoming more and more attached to earth life as they repay their debts to their human "saviours". and no nirwan, they ain't anything like ET.

2) getting my rwac assingment done: ugh. the only piece of schoolwork that blights the slack period now. i need to get an interview done, plus somehow force myself down to woodlands library to get my hands on a book that's only available there. and it's due on the 18th. problem? i haven't touched it so long, i hardly feel connected to it anymore. sigh.

3) finding a job: i've been making noise about this for quite a while now. but now that i have a 2 month break, i damn well better get off my lazy keester and start raking in the moolahs. hopefully i can find me a nice job. nice job = pays well. if only i could slack for a living... i'd be a gazillionaire by now =P

4) ds gaming: castlevania. wheee. guess i'm a little late, but it's a damn good game. on top of that, i have a tonne of games to tear through that i haven't touched yet. and there's news of advance wars ds 2! w00t! =D hopefully fire emblem follows suit soon...

let's hope i find interesting stuff to update with soon.

greg out for now.

and no, i'm not a jiu gui. i haven't touched a significant amount of alcohol since the last post. though thanks for the advice fav. i appreciate it. =)

of hangovers and sunny-side ups...

meh. bali-drinking-binge part two occurred when michael's actual wedding celebration was held last night at the shangri-la.

and dammit, did i dive into the booze again.

while it's not the myriad concoction of poison i had in bali, i did have 3 different kinds of wine that added up to my glass count of 12: a wonderful wolf blass red label riesling, jacob's creek's rose and a french red wine of which i can't remember the name of the variety at the moment.

starting at 6 amidst the doritos and peanuts at the cocktail reception (and migratory grazing of the doritos from table to table) and ending after dinner at around 12, with two glasses broken at the base (don't know my own strength i guess, but the glass must be really cheap =P) in the meantime, it was one heckuva party.

and when i got home, i concussed. seriously. knocked out after trying to surf the net and chat for a while. totally out cold. which was around 1.

somehow, i managed to wake up at 6 sharp for fundraising at st theresa's. how the heck i did it was a miracle in itself. even more miraculous was how i still hauled myself out with me nursing first good and proper hangover, with head throbbing and all.

surprisingly, i actually found respite once i started frying sunny-side ups in the kitchen. the headache disappeared and the fatigue vanished. i theorised that it was a endorphin reaction for doing a good enough job churning out the lovely eggs. haha.

though of course, once we ran out of eggs and stuff for me to do, everything started coming back. till i actually got myself a nice nap during the lull period while everyone was at mass.

and after the long, long day of feeling crappy, making a good profit and tying up some loose ends for the advanced news writing and gathering assignment, i shall retire to bed and continue tomorrow after i purge whatever alcohol still flowing through my system.

oyasumi nasai people.

and a song...

this one's for all the 0612A'ers. 'tis open season on incompetent pencil-pushers. we ain't going down!

Without a Fight
Hoobastank

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW

Wake up! Our life is calling.
We're smokin', but not on fire.
Give us a sign that we're alive!

Step out of indecision!
Have we been hypnotized
To think that everything's all right?

(The clock is counting down) The clock is counting down.
(The seconds tick away) The seconds tick away.

This is our time
Without a doubt!
Time to ignite.
We're not going down, without a fight!

This is our time!
Get up off the ground!
Take what is mine.
We're not going down, without a fight!

Let's go! The curtain's open.
Get this show on the road.
I wanna feel my heart explode.

No more pro-crastination,
Draggin' my feet below!
Now I want everyone to know.

(The clock is counting down)
The clock is counting down.
(The seconds tick away)
Seconds tick away.

This is our time
Without a doubt!
Time to ignite.
We're not going down without a fight!

This is our time!
Get up off the ground!
Take what is mine.
We're not going down, without a fight!

YEAH! COME ON! COME ON! COME ON!

COME ON! COME ON! COME ON!

We must pick up the pace
No time to play it safe
Before you know it's much too late

This is our time
Without a doubt!
Time to ignite.
We're not going down, without a fight!

This is our time!
Get up off the ground!
Take what is mine.
We're not going down, without a fight!

FIGHT! [16x]

WHOOOOOOOOOOO-hoow...

a few thank yous...

thanks for the "surprise" party yesterday guys. i guess it was somewhat of a foregone conclusion when you guys brought me into the loop about the belated surprise party for becks. ain't rocket science to figure out that i'd be lumped in, but thank you all nonetheless. it was a really great day. the weather threatened to ruin it, but it never quite got there. the cycling was fun, and so was the great food on the barbi! i enjoyed playing my part in the whole thing (and learning that van is one sneaky and slick girl, even though we did get becks's shoe size wrong. haha.) and i love the monkey!

though of course i love the givers of the gift more. heh.

thanks again guys. it feels like the weekend hasn't ended! =)

appreciating a good sleep after a long weekend

after what has been a long, eventful weekend, i'm really glad i've just had a full complement of 8 hours of sleep.

watching transformers again at 11pm on friday started my sleep tab rolling, since i had tutorial the next morning at 9, but damn, it was really great to watch again. caught quite a few things i missed in the 1st view, like ratchet's sawblade being on his left arm and how through just one simple scene brought out starscream's sneaky-bastard character very, very effectively. i was mesmerised by the action the first time round and knew roughly what happened, but seeing it again just elicited a "that sneaky bastard" from me.

i could still watch it a third time. no kidding. even if it means gluing myself to the seat for another two and a half hours.

on a less pleasant note, i am very annoyed with school. just ONE WEEK to go before a supposed exam, and there's still a friggin' schedule conflict on saturday. on an EXAM DAY. what the hell. i can understand that there are bigger things i do not see at play here, but this is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable from a student's perspective. i need to plan and know when my exam is so that i can work towards it. it's downright farcical when something so simple as shifting a tutorial is taking such a long time to be put into effect. now there's even talk of shifting the exam again. seriously. after a few weeks of angry emails and still nothing's been done. i don't know what else to say before i lapse into cuss mode.

saturday night was fun though, despite my annoyance in the morning. it was jillian's 1st birthday celebration (she turns 1 on wednesday actually, she's a 7-11 baby. haha.) and we catered food from penang place. really, really yummy, especially the beef rendang. sedap!

plus the company was good, since jie invited jem and huimin while i called some of the peeps who were at the archdiocese youth day to drop by. great food and great wine is only made better in the presence of great company.

and in the face of a good deal of alcohol and a late night, i don't know how i managed to haul myself out to get burnt in the relentless sunday noonish sun to play ball with the guys. i'm positively charred right now and i'm just dousing myself with hazeline snow. and how i stayed out the whole day is someewhat of a miracle. after a good session of car bombing and tank romping with the guys in battlefield (being a virtual terrorist is fun. strapping c4 to a humvee or buggy and ramming it into a tank is a real thrill. and it's really funny to watch the buggy recoil when friendly fire is on and the occupants and buggy are unaffected by the tonnes of plastic explosive that just blew up.), i was somehow hauled out by van for becks's belated surprise birthday dinner and ended up getting surprised too with a belated birthday cake slice. it was a pleasant surprise and while i overslept on the bus home, i really enjoyed the evening out.

and now that i've gotten my sleep, it's time to switch to assignment mode since the assignment's due on saturday supposedly. stupid admin. before going out again... have a good monday peeps!

sunday's ball game

thanks to ollie for the compiling and gary for the phototaking.

though the shot of me wiping my sweat with my jersey leaves me feeling insecure. bah.

enjoy the purty pictures.
